This photo is actually for a couple of the projects I'm working on. 1. Only shooting in monochrome and 2. only shooting with a smartphone. The purposes being: "We don’t see the world in monochrome. Black and white is an abstraction in the world. That is why it looks more “artistic” to the average person. It is novel, unique, and different.
However it takes a while for you to train your eye to see the world in monochrome."
"to realize that photography is less about the gear and more about your personal vision, and how you see the world. The tool isn’t as important as your eye.
This assignment might also teach you the importance of just always having your camera with you, ready, and prepared to click."
I've also started another project on the list: Going a month without social media. Okay I'm not going all out with this one just yet but I did deactivate my facebook. I've noticed it really giving me anxiety a lot and I just spend too much time mindlessly scrolling through posts I really don't even care about. I deactivated it a few months ago and really enjoyed not being glued to my phone so much so I'm happy to do it again. I will keep my instagram but I will definitely be trying to stay off of it more.
"By “fasting” from social media from a month, you will get a better sense of why you make photos. And I can guarantee you, you will feel less stressed and anxious to keep up with the “social media rat race.”
